Our team at energysavings.com has been capturing daily snapshots of the energy plans offered on the Power to Choose site and has put together the following information regarding the energy plans offered during the month of December 2020 for the Centerpoint delivery area. Please click here for a map that shows the location of the transmission and distribution utilities in competitive areas. Please note that as rates may change at any time in the day on the Power to Choose site, the following analysis is only based on information captured in our snapshots each month.
Market trend: In the Centerpoint area, REPs didn’t change their rates throughout the month of December 2020 for the energy plans discussed in this report. The market appears to have been stable.
1. Fixed rate Plans

The lowest plan for this category of plan was offered by Energy Monger. The plan is named “12 Month E-Pay / E-Bill (Web Only).” This plan has a $15 fee per remaining months if you want to terminate the service before the end of the contract. This plan was only listed with information in Spanish on the Power to Choose website.
Ambit Energy was the REP showing the highest rate with the plan “Lone Star Classic 12.” An additional discount is offered if the customer signs up for paperless billing and autopay.

Windrose Energy and Southern Federal Power LLC had the lowest rate for this type of plan. Windrose Energy’s plan is called “Windrose Saver 24” and Southern Federal Power’s is called “SoFed Better Rate – 24.” They were both eligible to new customers. Both have a one-time early termination fee, but SoFed Better Rate – 24’s termination fee is higher.
Energy to Go had the highest rate. The plan name is “Fixed To Go 24.”

Southern Federal Power was the REP that showed the lowest rate during December 2020. This plan requires enrollment in paperless e-billing and payments that auto withdraw from the customer’s preferred method each bill period.
Ambit Energy‘s “Lone Star Flex” had the highest rate.

The cheapest rate of this category of plan was offered by Gexa Energy and Frontier Utilities. The plans are “Gexa Choice Green 12” and “Eco Green 12,” respectively. Gexa Energy and Frontier Utilities are both owned by NextEra Energy.
Energy to Go with the plan “Green To Go 12” and Trieagle Energy with the plan “Green Eagle 12” were the two REPs showing the highest rate.

For the highest rate, Iberdrola Texas offered the plan “Wind by TX 24.”

The lowest rate of this category was offered by Infuse Energy. The plan is called “Keep It Simple Savings Green Flex.” Autopay is required to benefit from this low rate.
The highest rate was offered by Ambit Energy is “Ambit Green Texas Flex.”
