TXU Energy Electricity Plans

TXU Energy offers both residential and business electricity plans. Here are some of its most popular options.

TXU Energy Simple Rate

TXU Energy’s Simple Rate plan advertises that you get the same low energy charge no matter how much electricity you use. However, the Electronic Facts Label (EFL) shows a different average price per kWh due to the monthly base charge and TDSP charges on this plan. tiered pricing based on your average monthly use.

Like many of its other plans, the Simple Rate plan only uses 3% renewable content, which is far below the state average of 35%.

TXU Energy Saver’s Choice

TXU Energy’s Saver’s Choice plan offers a $50 bill credit when your monthly usage reaches 1,200 kWh. The energy charge varies for different usage bands. The 1201 to 2000 kWh range has the lowest energy charge. This plan usage level is designed for medium to high-usage homes.

This is another plan where only 3% of the plan’s electricity comes from renewable energy sources. Saver’s Choice has fixed rates for the duration of your contract.

TXU Energy Flex Forward

TXU Energy’s Flex Forward plan is a variable‑rate, month‑to‑month electricity plan. You can change or cancel your plan at any time without penalty. It could be a good fit for people who move frequently or don’t want to commit to a contract. However, the price shown during enrollment is the price applied to the first billing cycle. This price may change in subsequent months at the sole discretion of TXU Energy.

However, the average rates are higher than TXU’s fixed-rate plans, and your rates can change based on market conditions. This plan also only uses 3% renewable content.

TXU Energy Solar Saver

TXU Energy’s Solar Saver plan is a fixed-rate plan. If you use 1,200 kWh or more in a month, you receive a $30 bill credit. The energy charge varies for different usage bands. The 1201 to 2000 kWh range has the lowest energy charge.

Despite being a renewable energy-based plan, Solar Saver’s renewable energy content is 25%, which is on par with what many competitors use for standard energy plans. However, it does mention that the solar energy is sourced within the state, helping to support local energy farms.

TXU Energy Reviews

TXU Energy has thousands of reviews online, mostly on Google. Here’s what some customers had to say.

Positive Experiences:

“The agent helped my husband and I when we needed to cancel our TXU Energy service immediately. They were kind and understanding of our situation and even offered incentives for us to stay. We had TXU for 2 years and we look forward to having their service again.”

– KeNeisha K.

“I talked to TXU to set up my electric service. I had a few questions about the different services, and they provided very knowledgeable answers. They made it very easy to set up. I told them I had a very good experience with TXU when I had my apartment, so I wanted TXU Energy for my new house I’m buying. They congratulated me on the new house and said “welcome back “. It’s little things like this that matter to people. Very enjoyable experience.”

– Candyce D.

Negative Experiences:

“Dealing with TXU, trying to get my account fixed, has been a nightmare. They ask for my DOB, my mother's maiden name, and my whole SSN. Departments I need to talk to are closed or unavailable. They want to make payment arrangements, but I dont need that, I just need my online account reset so I can pay them. Working with their offshore call center is extremely difficult because of the heavy accent, and the information they are asking for makes me very suspicious, it feels like a scam, not to mention their "smart AI lady" that never understands what I want. I am strongly considering leaving TXU for a company that has better customer service.”

– Steve C.

“We chose a plan that would give us credit for charging your EV at night. We were sent a link to connect the accounts. On our TXU account it says our motor company and TXU account is connected, and to enjoy free nights. However, we have been charged for using our EV. When I called customer service, after checking on it, they recognized there was a mistake made, and I was told they would adjust the bill. Six days later we received an email saying our EV account is not connected with TXU and the bill will stay the same. We called to confirm and they said they didn’t see it despite our account saying it was connected. After checking on our bill a few days later, nothing had changed. We called back, they said it only had been connected two days earlier. We moved on thinking it was fixed. Then we checked yesterday, no change, still being charged. We called again only to be told they actually don’t see it is connected. We feel like TXU is getting away with fraud and there is no one to talk to. AVOID choosing a plan that says free EV charge at night.”

– Landan H.
